Mühle Glashütte

For 145 years the name “Mühle” has been a byword for precision and precision measuring. The foundation was laid by Robert Mühle in the year 1869. He had completed his training at the famous watch manufacturer Moritz Großmann and soon afterwards founded his own company in Glashütte, manufacturing precision measuring instruments for the local watch industry and watchmaker school.

Its good reputation soon enabled the company to expand the manufacture of precision measuring instruments into a new field. Thus in the decades after 1920 “Rob. Mühle & Sohn” supplied famous car makes such as Horch, Maybach and DKW with car clocks, speedometers and rev counters.

Over the years this passion for precision measuring became a full-blown family tradition until, in the fourth generation, the company’s present orientation finally began to take shape: the manufacture of extremely precise timekeeping instruments for the nautical field. Since then not only marine time systems and marine chronometers have been produced under the brand name “Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte”, but also mechanical wristwatches committed to nautical virtues and the family tradition.

For this reason the wristwatches by Mühle-Glashütte are first and foremost precision instruments for measuring time. They are functional and reliable, no-frills and striking in character – for they are based on a clear philosophy: Form follows Function. These values are reflected in every time measuring instrument by Mühle-Glashütte – irrespective of whether it has a classical and precious look or a sporty and robust one.

This explains for example the excellent readability and precision of the Teutonia II Chronograph. Like all new chronographs from Mühle, it is equipped with our in-house developed three-quarter plate, the characteristic Mühle rotor and our in-house woodpecker regulation.
